Pump Track

I had a rare Saturday off today with nothing planned, so the family decided to check out a local pump track for the first time. If you don't know, a pump track is like a small BMX track with jumps and berms designed to keep a flow throughout. When properly designed, and ridden, one can ride endless loops without pedaling by 'pumping' through the track. It's a great way to improve your skills and get a change of pace on the bike. It's waaaay harder than it looks to whip through these things quickly. I was able to pump through a smaller loop without pedaling, but I am far from having this skill mastered. Greta on the other hand will probably be tearing up the scene in no time!

First, check out this video for some real pump track skills;

Did you notice? He doesn't pedal once! Makes it look easy!

Of course...I have to brag on my 4yr old killing it with her mad skillz;

This free, open to the public pump track is yet another reason why we've grown to love Asheville so much. This area is just loaded with fun & unique opportunities!
